Practical guide
Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi Ferry
Saladan to Tonsai in half an hour, or Phi Phi and back in a day.
Take a Morning Speedboat From Saladan
Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi is about 30 km of open sea from Saladan pier at Lanta's north tip to Tonsai pier on Phi Phi Don, 30–45 minutes by speedboat or about an hour by ferry. From November to April boats leave Saladan from 08:00 to 16:00. The first is Lanta Petpailin's 08:00 ferry, the speedboats run from 09:00 (Satun Pakbara) through Bundhaya's 10:00, 13:00 and 15:30 to Tigerline's 16:00, and fares are about ฿600–790.
Check live Koh Lanta → Koh Phi Phi times and seats on 12Go
Bundhaya's ฿700 boat is the one I'd book, because its 13:00 sails all year, and from May to mid-October it's the one speedboat still on the timetable. Most tickets can include a pickup from your Lanta hotel for about ฿100 more, which saves a tuk-tuk to the pier. Pay the ฿20 island fee in cash when you land. Because the hop is so short, the early ferry out and a late boat back give you about six hours on Phi Phi, so you don't need to move hotels to see it.
Below you'll find every boat by time, the rainy-season boat, Laem Tong, and the day trip done on the scheduled boats or as a tour.

Key Facts (2026)
Speedboats take 30–45 minutes, about ฿600–790
Satun Pakbara at 09:00, 13:00 and 14:30, Bundhaya at 10:00, 13:00 and 15:30 (฿700 at the operator), Tigerline at 10:00, 12:30 and 16:00, Andaman Wave Master at 12:00 and PP Cabana at 15:15.
Ferries take about an hour, about ฿600
Lanta Petpailin at 08:00 (and 13:00 in high season) and Chaokoh at 09:00 and 12:30. The 08:00 is the one to catch for a day on Phi Phi.
May to mid-October, plan on the 13:00
On a June date Bundhaya's booking system shows only its 13:00, and 12Go adds Chaokoh's ferry. The other operators drop off, and a swell can cancel the speedboat.
Hotel pickup for about ฿100 more
Bundhaya's speedboat with a pickup from your Lanta hotel is about ฿845 on 12Go against ฿740 for the boat alone. A tuk-tuk from Kantiang to Saladan is about ฿400–800.
฿20 at Tonsai, and a park fee for Maya Bay
Pay the ฿20 island fee in cash when you land. Maya Bay and the outer islands add the national-park fee, ฿400 for foreign adults, and Maya Bay closes from 1 August to 30 September.
Staying at Laem Tong? One boat goes there
Andaman Wave Master's 12:00 from Saladan calls at Tonsai at 12:30 and goes on to Laem Tong beach, arriving about 14:00, for about ฿1,050.

Getting to Saladan Pier
Book the pickup with the boat
Every boat leaves from Saladan pier at the northern tip of Lanta. If you're staying on Klong Dao or Long Beach it's a short ride, but from Klong Khong, Kantiang or the south it's a long one, and a tuk-tuk from Kantiang costs about ฿400–800. Grab barely works on the island, so I'd buy a ticket that includes the pickup. Bundhaya's speedboat with a hotel pickup is about ฿845 on 12Go, about ฿100 more than the boat alone, Tigerline includes the pickup for about ฿600, and Jijie and Chaokoh sell ferries and speedboats with a pickup from about ฿600. Pickups come up to two hours before the boat, so be ready in the lobby early.
Speedboat or Ferry
The ferry is the calmer ride; the speedboat saves half an hour
The fares are close, so it comes down to time and the sea. The speedboats take 30 to 45 minutes and run through the day, Bundhaya at 10:00, 13:00 and 15:30 for ฿700 (children ฿400), with Satun Pakbara, Tigerline, Andaman Wave Master and PP Cabana in between. The ferries take about an hour and leave in the morning and early afternoon, Lanta Petpailin at 08:00 and Chaokoh at 09:00 and 12:30, for about ฿600. On a windy day I'd take the ferry, because a big boat rolls less on the open water between the two islands.
In the Rainy Season, Take the 13:00
The one speedboat that keeps going from May to mid-October
Most of these boats are high-season boats. On a June date Bundhaya's booking system shows just its 13:00 from Saladan, and 12Go's listing adds Chaokoh's ferry at 09:00 and 12:30 but none of Satun Pakbara, Tigerline, Petpailin or Andaman Wave Master. September and October are the wettest months on this coast, and rough seas cancel speedboats on the worst days, so book the 13:00 the day before and keep the next day free. Maya Bay closes from 1 August to 30 September, so a rainy-season trip to Phi Phi is for Phi Phi Don itself.

Arriving at Tonsai, or Going On to Laem Tong
฿20 in cash, then a walk or a longtail
Every boat but one lands at Tonsai pier, in the middle of Phi Phi Don's village. You pay the ฿20 island fee in cash as you come off the pier, and from there the Tonsai hotels are a short walk, since the island has no cars. For Long Beach, a longtail from the pier costs about ฿100, and the resorts further out usually send their own boat if you tell them your arrival time.
If you're staying at Laem Tong in the north, Andaman Wave Master's 12:00 from Saladan stops at Tonsai at 12:30 and continues to Laem Tong beach, arriving about 14:00, for about ฿1,050. That saves the longtail ride round the island.
Phi Phi in a Day From Koh Lanta
On the scheduled boats, or on a tour
Because the crossing is so short, you can see Phi Phi without moving hotels. On the scheduled boats, take Lanta Petpailin's 08:00 ferry (about ฿600) or Bundhaya's 10:00 speedboat (฿700) out, and Bundhaya's 15:30 or Petpailin's 16:00 back from Tonsai. That's six hours or more on Phi Phi Don for about ฿1,300–1,400 in boat fares. It's enough for the viewpoint above Tonsai, a longtail to Long Beach and lunch, but not for Maya Bay, which needs its own boat.
For Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and the snorkeling spots, the efficient way is a speedboat day tour with a pickup from your Lanta hotel. Lanta's tour operators sell them from about ฿1,595 for about eight hours, with lunch and snorkel gear, and the national-park fee (฿400 for adults, ฿200 for children) is usually paid in cash on the day on top. Maya Bay closes from 1 August to 30 September, and you can wade there but not swim. In the rainy season I wouldn't plan a same-day trip on the scheduled boats, because the 13:00 out doesn't leave time for a return.
Going On From Phi Phi
Phuket and Krabi are a morning away
Phi Phi is the middle of the Andaman hop, so most people go on to Phuket or Krabi. Ferries and speedboats leave Tonsai for Rassada pier in Phuket through the day (Phi Phi to Phuket), and for Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Railay, including ferries to Klong Jilad at 10:30, 13:30 and 15:30 (Phi Phi to Krabi).
Going the Other Way, Phi Phi to Koh Lanta
Speedboats from 09:30, ferries until 16:00
Coming back, speedboats leave Tonsai from 09:30 to 15:30 and ferries at 11:00, 11:30, 14:00 and 16:00, and in the rainy season Bundhaya's 11:00 is the boat to plan on. My Phi Phi to Koh Lanta guide has every departure and the Laem Tong boat.

Yes. Either take the 08:00 ferry out and the 15:30 or 16:00 boat back, about six hours on Phi Phi Don for about ฿1,300–1,400 in fares, or join a speedboat day tour with hotel pickup from about ฿1,595, which adds Maya Bay and the snorkeling stops. The national-park fee is extra.
One does. From May to mid-October, Bundhaya's booking system shows its 13:00 speedboat, and 12Go also lists Chaokoh's ferry. The other operators are high-season boats, and rough seas can cancel sailings in September and October.
