North Pattaya Beach

4.6(621 reviews)

Sitting at the northern end of Pattaya's main shoreline, this beach offers a distinctly urban coastal experience where fishing boats and yachts share the water against a backdrop of high-rise hotels and bar venues. The result is an energetic, modern atmosphere that draws families, couples, and solo travellers alike. Visitors can expect a lively scene with beachside vendors offering fresh coconut water and foot massages, open space for kite flying and sandplay, and easy access to the dining and nightlife options that line the surrounding streets. The beach rewards early risers in particular — mornings tend to be quieter and more relaxed before the crowds build through the day. Sunsets draw a strong following, with views across the water providing a striking contrast to the busy city behind. It is worth noting that cleanliness has been an ongoing concern, with some visitors reporting litter in the water, so those seeking pristine conditions may want to set expectations accordingly. The dry season from November to February offers the most comfortable conditions, with calmer seas, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall. During the monsoon months of May to September, rougher water and occasional beach closures are possible. Sunscreen and hydration are essential year-round given the tropical heat, and arriving early in the morning is advisable during peak holiday periods to find a comfortable spot along the shore.

Visitor Reviews

No matter where you are, the beach is always a fantastic place. Pattaya Beach is a beach. I love visiting. I just wish we could take care of it better. There is too much trash from us. The sunsets are great, and the waves are perfect. I am just a little discouraged by the lack of benches and toilets. How about just putting in some showers to get the sand off you? Easy fixes.

Nice and fresh, fisherboats and yachts, skyscrape hotels and bar venues, all combined in a futuristic and innerving modern playground for everyone! Good vibes even if very crowded, especially during high season dec-mars. Nice people everywhere and exceptional service and politeness. Five-star classic iconic Pattaya Beach north! ✨️🎉👍

A beautiful, clean beach where the whole family can relax! Enjoy fresh drinks like coconut water, a soothing foot massage by the beach, and let the kids play in the sand or fly kites. Perfect spot for family fun! 🌊🏖️

Tips for Visiting Beaches

Check Monsoon Windows

Andaman coast beaches (Phuket, Krabi) have rough seas May–October. Gulf beaches (Samui, Hua Hin) are roughest October–December. Plan your beach trip around these windows for calm water and safe swimming.

Go Early for Empty Sand

Even the busiest beaches are nearly deserted before 9 AM. Sunrise walks on Kata, Chaweng, or Railay are magical — and you'll beat the heat for a morning swim.

Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Many Thai marine parks ban chemical sunscreens that damage coral. Bring reef-safe (mineral/zinc-based) sunscreen from home — it's harder to find and pricier in Thailand.
