Khao Thong View Point
Perched on a hill in the Khao Thong area just outside Krabi town, this viewpoint draws visitors with its wide, unobstructed views across the coastline and surrounding karst landscape. The elevated vantage point is particularly popular at sunset, when the sky above the sea puts on a striking display that makes it a favourite spot for photography. Despite its appeal, the viewpoint remains relatively uncrowded compared to other Krabi attractions, giving it a more relaxed atmosphere. A restaurant sits beneath the main viewing platform and looks out toward the sea, offering Thai dishes alongside the scenery. Visitor experiences with the food are mixed — some find it enjoyable, while others suggest the menu can be confusing and the quality inconsistent — so most visitors treat the food as secondary to the view itself. Getting there requires a short uphill journey from the roadside parking area, with a local jeep service available for a small fee to carry visitors up the slope. Those wanting quieter conditions and easier access for photos are better off arriving earlier in the day, as foot traffic increases toward the afternoon. As no official opening hours are publicly listed, it is worth checking locally before making a special trip.

Visitor Reviews
It’s a must—see when you visit Krabi! Really recommend! You can park on the street and get up the hill with a jeep (few money). Beautiful view, wonderful place. Not really crowded. Restaurant there is an absolute great location! You can choose by yourself where you want to sit and have a drink/food. Toilets there are really clean!
Must do view point in krabi, quite tucked away, gets busier in the afternoon so go early if you want to get some pictures. Restaurant is located under the main view point and looks out to the sea. Food is also great.
Insane view, no more words needed😍
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
