Two-Color River View Point

The whole point here is a color line on the water. The Mekong comes through deep blue, the Mun arrives murky orange-brown, and where they meet at the edge of Khong Chiam the two refuse to blend for a good stretch. It's a geography lesson you can actually see, and from the raised viewpoint you're looking across both rivers and straight into Laos on the far bank.

Manage your expectations on timing, because this is a seasonal thing. The contrast is sharpest during and just after the wet season, roughly July through November, when the Mun is carrying enough sediment to stand out against the Mekong. Come in the dry months and you may be looking at two shades of much the same brown. It's a short stop rather than a day out, and it suits people already working their way around the far eastern corner of Ubon Ratchathani rather than anyone making a special pilgrimage.
