The Spa Resorts

4.0(220 reviews)

Nestled on the southern coast of Koh Samui in Tambon Maret, The Spa Resorts is a wellness-focused retreat that combines accommodation, spa services, and structured health programs under one roof. The property sits directly on the beach, and guests frequently note the beauty of the setting — particularly the morning atmosphere, where sunrise views and beachside coffee service set a serene tone for the day. The resort has roots going back to its earlier days as Spa Samui, giving it a longer history in the wellness space than many newer competitors on the island.

Visitors can expect a calm, organised environment with a strong emphasis on holistic health. Structured programs such as Optimal Weight Loss are offered and receive consistently positive feedback for how well they are managed. Accommodation is straightforward and comfortable, and the on-site vegan restaurant is a standout feature, with several guests describing the food as exceptional. A pool is available for guests, and the resort operates daily from 07:00 to 22:00.

It is worth noting that opinions on value for money are mixed — some guests feel the pricing is high relative to the overall standard, so it is advisable to review the program packages carefully before booking. Those coming specifically for a structured wellness program or detox retreat tend to leave the most satisfied. Booking directly through the resort's website at thesparesorts.com is recommended to confirm current program availability and pricing ahead of arrival.

Simple, friendly and well organised. We were there for 7 nights doing the Optimal Weight Loss program, and everything was executed so well. Patrick and his team were excellent. We left feeling more energised, lighter and totally relaxed and refreshed. The only downside is that it is near the main road; therefore, it can get quite loud when you are doing yoga/ meditation. Overall, highly recommended if you are looking to escape and unwind.

Thank you for the warm welcome. The staff were very professional and attentive. The atmosphere was peaceful and perfect for relaxation. The food was exceptional, far better than anywhere else. I'm sure I'll recommend this place to my friends and bring my family back again.

I feel compelled to write this review. Positives first: The rooms were good, and the beach is genuinely beautiful. That said, considering the overall standard, the hotel is significantly overpriced. This was my first trip to Thailand, a three-week round trip. I truly fell in love with the country, the people, and the culture. Throughout the entire journey, I did not have a single bad or uncomfortable experience. Thank you, Thailand. Except for this hotel. I was traveling with my daughter, and therefore usually book rooms with separate beds. This hotel only offers king-size beds, so we requested a second blanket. The hotel charged 1,000 baht for an additional blanket — roughly 25 €. This was the first and only moment during my entire stay in Thailand where I felt genuinely exploited. Anyone with even basic knowledge of local price levels will recognize how unacceptable this is. A reasonable service fee? Fine. But turning something as basic as an extra blanket into a profit-driven add-on — in an already overpriced hotel — is not. Daily towel and sheet changes are apparently included without issue, yet a blanket becomes a chargeable luxury? That is hard to justify. I made my disagreement very clear (while still paying the fee). After that, the service noticeably changed. Upon checkout, I was required to wait at reception until staff had inspected our room. I can only assume they expected some kind of retaliation, which of course did not happen. I am 50 years old and have never, in decades of travel, been made to wait for a room inspection before checkout. The situation was unnecessary, awkward, and frankly embarrassing. Conclusion: I will absolutely return to Thailand — without hesitation. But I will make a point of avoiding this hotel chain in the future.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
