Talat Phlu BTS Station

The reason to get off here isn't the trains. It's the street food that sets up under the station once the light goes, which turns an ordinary commuter stop on the Silom Line into somewhere you might actually linger for half an hour. Come after dark and you'll have vendors and a proper local crowd rather than a tourist strip.

As a piece of transport infrastructure, it does the job. This is the interchange with the BRT network, and travellers moving around Thon Buri on the western side of the river will pass through it often. The catch is the walk between the two systems. It's uncovered, the surface is in poor shape, and if you're using a wheelchair or pushing a pram, I'd plan a different route entirely. Reviews are blunt about it. Trains on this stretch also hold for a long spell over the Chao Phraya, so build in slack if you're catching something.
