Baan Tha Ley Café
Tucked away at Khlong Muang Beach, Baan Tha Ley Café sits in a quieter stretch of Krabi's coastline where diners eat directly beside the sea. The setting is thoughtfully decorated, the atmosphere unhurried, and the food is consistently praised by visitors for both its quality and generous portion sizes — all at mid-range prices that feel well-matched to what's on offer. It draws a mix of locals and travellers without feeling overrun, which gives it a more genuine, neighbourhood feel than many beachside restaurants in the region. The menu centres on Thai cuisine, and the kitchen appears to take it seriously — reviewers repeatedly note that the food tastes freshly prepared and carefully made. The staff are described as attentive and genuinely helpful when it comes to navigating dishes, which makes it a comfortable choice for first-time visitors to Thai dining as well as returning travellers. The combination of sea views, considered décor, and relaxed pace makes it as suitable for a long, leisurely dinner as a casual afternoon meal. Open daily from midday until 10pm, the café offers good flexibility for visitors working around day trips or beach activities. It sits outside Krabi's main tourist corridors, so reaching it requires a short drive, but that distance also accounts for the calmer atmosphere. Visiting the Facebook page before arrival is worthwhile for checking the current menu. During peak season, from November through February, arriving earlier in the evening is a sensible precaution.

Visitor Reviews
A gem hiding in plain sight. The kind of place where the staff actually sees you - a shocking rarity these days. Warm atmosphere, intentional details, and food that tastes like someone still believes in doing things properly. Soft-shell crab in several different ways (yes, I tried a few - no regrets), glass noodles with prawns that feel like a small love letter from the kitchen, and rice so good it does not deserve to be called a “side.” We even had a special request that most restaurants would politely decline - yet at Baan Talay, it was handled with a smile and zero drama. A miracle, honestly. Jack, the owner, runs the place with the kind of sincerity you can't train. And the whole crew? Fantastic. Music by Khun Pee drifting in the background - chill, unobtrusive, perfectly tuned to the sea breeze. And the view. The view. The view. If the universe ever had a screensaver, it would be this coastline. Absolutely worth a visit; these people understand hospitality deeper than most places even attempt. Thank you!
4.1 A wonderful dining experience! We loved everything we ate here; the dishes were consistently delicious and the portions were very generous. The atmosphere is lovely and creates a great vibe for a meal. Although there can be a slight language barrier at times, the staff is very friendly and tries their best to help. As a constructive note—which I think applies to most of Krabi—the cocktail menu could really use an update. The world has moved to a much higher level in mixology, and improving the drinks would make this place absolutely perfect. Highly recommended for the food and the ambiance!
Talking about a hidden gem! Baan Tha Ley Cafe is tucked away at Khlong Muang Beach. There are many other restaurants and bars, so it is not super busy here. The decoration is absolutely nice and the menu for food and drinks is amazing. It is one of the best spots for sunset for sure.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
