Nonna & Son Samui
Situated in the Bo Put area on Koh Samui's north shore, this Italian-focused restaurant has earned a devoted following among both visitors and island regulars. The kitchen takes evident pride in its produce, turning out fresh pasta with well-crafted sauces alongside standout dishes like Caesar salad and salmon. The food is carefully presented and portions are well-balanced, reflecting an approach that prioritises quality over volume. Multiple guests report returning several times within a single stay, which speaks to the consistency of the cooking. The setting strikes a balance between polished and relaxed, with upstairs terrace dining available for those who prefer an open-air table. Service is attentive throughout, and the space carries a lively but unfussy atmosphere that suits everything from a casual brunch to a longer evening meal. The menu covers a wide enough range to reward repeat visits without feeling repetitive. Good to know: Nonna & Son opens at 10:00 AM every day of the week and stays open until midnight, making it one of the more flexible dining options in the area regardless of your schedule. Those who prefer a slower, self-directed pace when ordering should be aware that staff can be proactive in guiding the meal — a detail worth keeping in mind if you like to take your time with the menu. Checking their Instagram account before visiting is a practical way to stay across any daily specials or updates to service hours.

What a lovely place! The food is amazing and the staff is very attentive. We’ve eaten here 3 times already and the food has been delicious every time. Highly recommend!
I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portions were just right, and you could tell a lot of care went into the preparation. The service was outstanding as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a relaxing dinner. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and warm hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back!
During my one week stay in Samui, i only ate at the top restaurants in Chaweng. Nonna definitely wins as the best food on the island by far. However, I did not appreciate how pushy they are standing over you when you try to look at the menu before going in. I deliberately walked to the second menu podium which had no one around it, and the server came running and standing over me for several minutes making me feel extremely uncomfortable..... this policy needs to be changed. Pressure doesn't get you customers.. thankfully their food made up for their service.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
