Nonna & Son Samui
Nonna & Son Samui has built a strong reputation as one of Koh Samui's standout dining destinations, drawing both tourists and locals to its Bo Put location in the north of the island. The kitchen centres on Italian cuisine, with fresh pasta, well-crafted sauces, and dishes like Caesar salad and salmon earning consistent praise from returning visitors. The space carries a classy but relaxed atmosphere, with upstairs terrace dining available for those who prefer an open-air setting. Visitors can expect attentive service and carefully presented plates across the full menu, from light brunch options through to evening meals. The food is prepared with evident care, and portions are described as well-balanced rather than oversized. The restaurant draws a loyal crowd, with many guests returning multiple times during a single stay — a reliable indicator of consistent quality. Good to know: Nonna & Son is open every day from 10:00 AM until midnight, making it a flexible option whether you are after a late breakfast, a long lunch, or a dinner that runs into the evening. The extended hours mean there is no need to rush. Checking their Instagram account (nonnaandson_samui) before visiting is worthwhile for updates on daily specials or any changes to service. Some visitors have noted staff can be proactive in guiding the ordering process, so those who prefer a more relaxed pace may want to set expectations early.

Visitor Reviews
What a lovely place! The food is amazing and the staff is very attentive. We’ve eaten here 3 times already and the food has been delicious every time. Highly recommend!
I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portions were just right, and you could tell a lot of care went into the preparation. The service was outstanding as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a relaxing dinner. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and warm hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back!
During my one week stay in Samui, i only ate at the top restaurants in Chaweng. Nonna definitely wins as the best food on the island by far. However, I did not appreciate how pushy they are standing over you when you try to look at the menu before going in. I deliberately walked to the second menu podium which had no one around it, and the server came running and standing over me for several minutes making me feel extremely uncomfortable..... this policy needs to be changed. Pressure doesn't get you customers.. thankfully their food made up for their service.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
