Hamur Restaurant Koh Samui
Tucked along Thanon Bond Kai in the Bo Put area of Koh Samui, this Turkish restaurant brings an unexpected and welcome slice of Anatolia to the island. Run by a Turkish owner with a clear passion for authenticity, it has built a loyal following among both residents and visitors looking for something beyond the typical island dining options. The menu centres on classic Turkish staples executed with care. Döner kebab and iskender kebap are standout dishes, with reviewers consistently praising the quality of the meat and the housemade bread that accompanies each order. The kitchen prepares everything fresh, and the sauces have drawn particular attention from repeat visitors. Beyond kebabs, the restaurant also serves pizza, making it a flexible option for groups with varied tastes. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and an owner who takes evident pride in the food coming out of the kitchen. Good to know: Hamur is open every day of the week from 12:00 to 22:00, making it a reliable choice for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant is active on Instagram at hamurkohsamui, which is worth checking for updates. Given the small size of the operation and the evident popularity, arriving earlier in the session or outside peak meal times may help avoid a wait.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
