The Trap House Samui Jamaican Bar & Grill
Perched above Bo Put in Koh Samui, The Trap House Samui Jamaican Bar & Grill brings a Caribbean flavour to the Gulf of Thailand, offering an open-air rooftop setting with sweeping panoramic views of the island. The combination of an unconventional concept and a striking vantage point makes it a genuinely distinctive stop among Samui's dining options. The menu leans into Jamaican cooking, with jerk chicken drawing particular praise from visitors. Cocktails are noted for being both creative and generously poured, and the relaxed, unhurried atmosphere complements the food well. Staff receive consistent mentions for their friendliness, adding to a vibe that feels welcoming rather than performative. The views alone appear to catch many visitors off guard, with the rooftop outlook over Samui regularly described as a highlight in its own right. The venue opens daily from 13:00 to 22:00, closing only on Mondays, making it well suited for a long lunch or an early evening meal. Located in the Bo Put area, it is worth noting that the access or rooftop exposure may be less comfortable during heavy rain, which is common during the island's off-season. Visiting during drier months or on a clear afternoon will make the most of the outdoor setting and the views that appear central to the overall experience.

Visitor Reviews
Absolutely incredible experience at Sky Lounge! This Caribbean rooftop gem in Thailand exceeded all expectations. The moment I stepped onto the rooftop, I was greeted with stunning panoramic views of the island and ocean — the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. The ambience was laid-back yet elegant, with island-inspired decor and chill Caribbean beats that made me feel like I was on vacation within a vacation. The food was nothing short of phenomenal — from the jerk chicken spring rolls to the peppered steak, every bite was packed with flavour and authenticity. The homemade ginger beer is a must try! The staff were warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about delivering a top-notch experience. If you're looking for a unique fusion of Caribbean flair and Thai hospitality with unbeatable views, Sky Lounge is a must-visit. Five stars all the way!
There is nothing negative to say about this place. I went on a weekday for lunch because the electricity had gone out on Samui (a usual occurrence on rainy days). Sky Lounge had a generator running. I was the only patron there, & I was greeted warmly & treated with the utmost respect & attention. I had two different rum cocktails—sublime. The jerk chicken, rice/beans, & coleslaw—delicious. I’ve not had such flavourful, tender chicken in a very long time. The lady who served me was attentive & kind, while allowing me alone time to enjoy the view, sip my rum, & feel the tropical breeze. I look forward to returning to Sky Lounge on my next visit to Samui. This place proves that not all quality establishments have to be on the beach, in the middle of the chaotic nightlife.
Because it was off-season, we were alone all evening... a shame because this place is highly recommended! The food was fantastic, the view is amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly! We chose this spot to avoid being surrounded by Instagrammers ;) Tip: the shuttle taxi is waiting down the hill, don't go up by motorbike!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
