Why go, and how to do it well
Sea Taste is one of the few freestanding restaurants on Koh Ngai, where nearly every meal otherwise comes from a resort kitchen. It sits in the middle of the main beach, with tables scattered over the sand, and the menu is Thai food and seafood, from panang and tom yam with prawns to mango sticky rice, at prices a little below the resorts.
It's open from 07:00 to 22:00, the connected Sea Bar is one of the better places on the island for a beer or a cocktail, and there are tents behind it for a cheap night. Most reviewers come back more than once, especially for the curries and the friendly staff, though service can be slow when it's busy.
