Mayalay Resort

Mayalay is a beachfront resort in the southern half of Koh Ngai's main beach, with large rattan and thatch bungalows spaced out along the sand, many of them with a view across to the islet of Koh Ma. The beach in front is one of the widest and best on the island for swimming, and at low tide there's snorkeling over the reef with plenty of fish.

The resort works hard at being green, with wood, bamboo and recycled materials everywhere and a zero-waste approach that guests notice. There's a restaurant, a bar and a spa, and reviewers praise the staff, who remember your name, and the cooking. It costs more than its neighbor Kaimuk Thong, but the bungalows are a clear step up.
