DAR Restaurant
DAR Restaurant is a well-regarded halal Thai seafood spot tucked along a quiet residential soi in the Nong Kae area of Hua Hin, drawing a loyal following of locals and visitors alike. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Dar, whose hands-on approach and friendly presence are frequently highlighted by diners. Fresh seafood is the focus here — live tiger prawns, deep-fried dishes, and carefully prepared Thai classics feature regularly — with prices that reviewers consistently describe as reasonable for the quality on offer.
The atmosphere is casual and airy, making it well-suited to relaxed evening meals with family or friends. Staff are noted for being welcoming and attentive, and the overall dining experience leans toward the personal and unhurried rather than the polished and formal. The restaurant also serves cocktails, including a mango mojito that has earned specific praise, rounding out the menu beyond food alone.

Reviews from Google
I have no idea where the bad reviews come from aside from maybe the bathrooms which are public and out of their control. I just had an amazing meal starting with a Mango Mojito, then ordered two authentic dishes one with lemon grass and squid and the other with a curry based chicken, and both were amazing. And listening to others around us they were all having the same experience. What was a real nice touch is the chef herself came out to each table and ask how the meal was and described what she did to create them. I order mine 35% spice level which is high for a foreigner and any who orders higher and not local you are not understanding her recipes are very authentic. Great meal, good price and service from wonderful people.
Amazing Seafood, Perfect Cocktails, and Great Value! The seating is comfortable and airy, making for a relaxing dining experience. The live tiger prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked, and the deep-fried sea bass was delicious. Rocky’s cocktails were spot-on, and the owners, a lovely couple, made us feel right at home. Chef Salina is both talented and charming, adding a special touch to the experience. The value is more than reasonable for the quality you get. Highly recommended!
Food is excellent, and each dish is prepared with great care. The prices are reasonable.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
