Pran Buri Forest Park
Pran Buri Forest Park is a protected national park in Pak Nam Pran, roughly an hour south of Hua Hin, offering an accessible walk through mangrove forest and coastal habitat without any entrance fee. The main boardwalk trail takes around 15 to 20 minutes at a relaxed pace, though those who slow down to observe the surroundings — particularly the black crabs that can be spotted climbing mangrove roots near the waterline — will find more to hold their attention. A quiet, relatively empty beach sits at the far end of the trail, and paid boat tours on the river are available for those wanting a closer look at the area's local fishing culture. The boardwalk design makes the terrain manageable for children, older travellers, and those bringing pets on weekends. Facilities are modest but well maintained, with a shop selling food and drinks and clean toilet facilities on site. A campsite near the beach is available for overnight stays. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried, particularly on weekdays, though some visitors note the scenery may not fully match expectations set by photographs. Good to know: Arriving early in the morning is strongly recommended to avoid the heat that builds through midday and to give wildlife spotting the best chance. Light, breathable clothing and closed footwear are sensible choices, especially during the rainy season when conditions along the trail can become muggier. Opening hours are not formally listed online, so confirming details with a local tourism office or accommodation in Hua Hin before making the trip is a practical precaution.

Visitor Reviews
Walking in this forest is a unique experience and admission is free. The paths are very good for walking through the forest. Halfway through, you can take a paid boat tour on the river. There is a tower along the path that can be reached by stairs and offers a view of the forest from above. There are also signs explaining the nature along the path, but they are in Thai, you can use a translation app on your phone to help you translate. I definitely recommend visiting this nature trail
Go there early to avoid high temperature in the noon. Taking the walk in the mangrove forests about 1 hour, look closely you can find the black crabs climbing on the trees( but near water level.) A view tower is very ideal for climbing up. Leave your photographer on the top of the tower, you stand by down the trail, you will get amazing photos.
The scenery and boardwalk are great for kids and elders. Boating is fun and you can feel the local fishing culture. There’s a campsite by the sea. You can bring kids and pets on weekends. Quiet beach with few tourists. Perfect to relax all day.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
