Kad Kafé Restaurant at Shangri-La Chiang Mai
Situated on Level 2 of the Shangri-La Chiang Mai along Changklan Road, Kad Kafé is a hotel restaurant that draws both guests and outside visitors with its themed dining events, most notably a Friday evening dinner buffet and a Sunday seafood brunch. The Sunday brunch stands out for families, as it has included complimentary children's arts and crafts activities alongside swimming pool access, making it a more immersive outing than a standard meal. Visitors can expect a polished, comfortable atmosphere consistent with the Shangri-La brand, with staff noted for personalised and friendly service. The buffet spreads feature Thai dishes and international options including sashimi and sushi, along with a variety of other selections. Experiences have varied, however — some guests praise the food presentation and variety, while others have found certain dishes underwhelming in flavour or freshness, so expectations are best set accordingly depending on the specific event or promotion on offer. For practical planning, the restaurant is located close to Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar, making it convenient to combine with an evening in the surrounding area. Reservations are recommended, particularly for the popular Friday and Sunday buffet events, as these draw dedicated crowds. Those visiting primarily for the buffet promotions should confirm current offerings and pricing directly with the hotel before arrival, as menus and inclusions may change seasonally.

Visitor Reviews
We visited twice — once for the Friday night special buffet and again for the Sunday seafood brunch, which also included complimentary kids’ arts & crafts and access to the swimming pool. The atmosphere, food, and service were all wonderful (special thanks to Benz and Mild!). We especially enjoyed the tenderloin steak cooked to order, the pistachio tiramisu, and the Tom Yum mojito cocktail. The kids were just as happy — they loved the mozzarella and tomato salad, the cheese buffet, and of course, the desserts. Highly recommended!
I had made reservations and was greeted by a lovely young lady at the restaurant entrance. I ordered a Tom Yum Mojito which was delicious. I sampled a little bit of everything and I actually went for the seafood which was good but loved the German pork with the crispy skin.. Service was a Gem here as all the staff, servers, ect are top notch. They were very friendly and super attentive. Food was Fresh and Hot!! Thanks Fred Tolodziecki

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
