Pavilion Night Bazaar Chiang Mai
The Pavilion Night Bazaar sits along Changklan Road in the heart of Chiang Mai's bustling night market strip, drawing a mix of locals and international visitors with its wide spread of vendors, street food stalls, and live musical performances. The open-air setting comes alive each evening, with traders offering handicrafts, goods from across northern Thailand, and an impressive variety of local dishes at very affordable prices — making it a solid stop for those wanting an authentic taste of Chiang Mai's night market culture. The atmosphere is energetic and social, with seating areas where visitors can settle in with food and drinks while live bands perform. The variety of food on offer is a consistent highlight, spanning local northern Thai dishes and broader regional flavours. It can get noticeably crowded during peak meal times, particularly on weekends, but the layout is generally manageable even when busy. A practical note for visitors: arriving outside of the main lunch and dinner rush hours helps avoid the heaviest crowds and makes browsing considerably more comfortable. The bazaar is open daily, with slightly earlier closing on Sundays at 21:00 compared to the 23:00 closing on all other nights. Its location near the broader Night Bazaar precinct means it pairs well with a wider evening stroll along Changklan Road.

Visitor Reviews
The Pavilion Night Bazaar is a bright and bustling vision once it opens up in the evening. It can get pretty crowded but not too difficult to maneuver around them. There are vendors spread out selling trinkets of all sorts. Some are fantastic and others are not the best quality. It ranges from hand painted little elephants to shirts with bright, flashing lights. I found a few things that I loved and brought home to my family. Tourists exploring all around and can get a little crazy. Plenty of food stalls to try out. Live music playing from different directions. It can get a little overwhelming but definitely cool to check out while you are visiting. Now for my standard comments. Location is crowded and loud. Not horrible to maneuver around but I was happy with exploring around at least once while we were there.
During the reduction in covid curbs during January 2022, the Pavilion area has become surely one of the current hot-spots for enjoyment in Chiang Mai. Covid restrictions are certainly being observed, but there are a lot of happy people meeting there every evening, for a great selection of street food, and some extremely talented music acts.
Can be very crowded... but an impressing variety of food. Live bands playing. Vendors selling stuff from all over North Thailand. Tourists from all over the world. For those staying in the old City of Chiang Mai walking back home from the market after a good dinner is quite pleasant. About 15 minutes to the South Gate.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
