The garden by lemongrass
Tucked along Chiang Mai's lively Loi Kroh Road, this restaurant stands out for its generous plot of land that allows for three distinct dining environments: tables out front facing the street, an indoor section, and a spacious garden area at the back. The combination of open-air greenery and unhurried spacing between tables gives the venue a calm, romantic quality that feels removed from the bustle outside. The menu leans into classic Thai cooking, with dishes like steamed lemon seabass and mango sticky rice drawing particular praise from diners. Portions are noted as generous, and the kitchen works with fresh ingredients. Service is consistently described as attentive without being intrusive, making it a comfortable choice for couples, families, and groups alike. The restaurant opens every evening at 5 PM and stays open until 1 AM, seven days a week, which suits both early diners and those arriving later after exploring the neighbourhood. As no website is listed, walk-ins are the standard approach, though arriving closer to opening time is advisable for those who prefer the quieter garden seating, which tends to fill as the evening progresses. The Loi Kroh Road address puts it within easy reach of Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar area, making it a practical dinner stop when exploring the east side of the old city.

Visitor Reviews
Stumbled along this restaurant and it turned out to be the best meal that we’ve had in all is Southeast Asia. Beautiful outdoor garden to dine , in addition to inside dining and front outdoor dining. Lovely venue. Fancy excellent cocktails, good beer and a great Thai menu. The chef is brilliant. We had duck breast in curry sauce that should be a Michelin Star mention. Huge prawns , excellent side sauces. We had to have the fried bananas with coconut ice cream for dessert even though we were well satisfied . What a delicious Thai bandanna split! Can’t rave about this restaurant enough.
We stopped here for dinner by chance, and it turned out to be the best decision. The place has a very pleasant atmosphere and great service. The Thai food was delicious, and the portions were quite generous. The staff were incredibly attentive. Highly recommend the Thai hot pot and the mango sticky rice. The hot pot broth was so flavorful — it reminded me of a rich bone soup with a very deep taste. If you’re looking for a cozy restaurant in Chiang Mai for a great dining experience, this is definitely the right place.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
