Why go, and how to do it well
Joom is an evening street stall on Sala Daeng Road in Silom that sells exactly two things, pad thai and mango sticky rice, and does both well enough to have built a following among people who work and drink in the area. The mango sticky rice comes in two sizes, topped with crispy mung beans, and the larger version is built on two whole mangoes. A plate runs about ฿100, and mango on its own is sold too.
The hours are the point. It sets up in the late afternoon and runs until 01:00, which makes it the obvious late stop after dinner in Silom, a rooftop bar on Sathorn or the Patpong night market a few minutes' walk away. It is the kind of place you eat standing up or carry back to the hotel.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
Use Grab for Delivery
The Grab app works for food delivery across Thailand, letting you order from street stalls and restaurants alike. It's invaluable on rainy days or when you want to eat in your hotel.
