The Extend Bar
Tucked along Ratvithi Road near Chiang Mai's Old City, The Extend Bar is a casual neighbourhood karaoke bar that draws a sociable mix of locals and travellers looking for an unpretentious night out. The venue leans heavily into its karaoke offering, running sessions from early evening through to the early hours, which creates an inclusive, anything-goes atmosphere where seasoned performers and enthusiastic amateurs share the same stage. Visitors can expect cold drinks, premium spirits including popular brands like Captain Morgan, and a happy hour running from 5 PM to 9:30 PM that makes for an affordable start to the evening. The crowd tends to be relaxed and friendly, and the bar's open-all-week schedule from 5 PM to 4 AM means it works equally well as a warm-up venue or a late-night anchor point. The central location puts it within easy reach of Old City accommodation and the broader Nimman and Night Bazaar areas. Good to know: The karaoke queue can be unpredictable during busier periods, with some guests reporting that song requests don't always make it to the stage, so arrive earlier in the evening if getting a turn at the mic matters to you. The bar accepts card payments, though it is worth confirming any card surcharge before settling your bill.

Visitor Reviews
Fun little bar with karaoke from early to late. Quality of singers is VERY varied, everyone can sing here knowing others have done both better and worse, just like it should be! Extremely fun, friendly crew, the little one's smile and energy is fantastic :D Food is among the best tasting ive had in chiang mai, mostly the usual thai stuff but i think i also saw a pizza menu... Update: Went back and tried the pizza... it waa great! Thin and crispy.... wish i knew sooner :D Oh and they have a nice balcony for smoking, if thats your thing...
Great atmosphere, great service great prices (happy hour from 1700-2130) and karaoke. What else is there to like ? Not to mention premium spirits. My partner is forever looking for Captain Morgans spiced rum when we are abroad and we can never find it, even in all inclusive hotels. The extend bar delivers.
Had a blast here on Halloween singing karaoke, drinking bourbon, doing whippets.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
