The UN Irish Pub & Restaurant
A fixture on Ratvithi Road near Chiang Mai's old city, this two-floor Irish pub and sports bar draws a loyal crowd of expats, locals, and travellers looking for solid Western food and a relaxed, familiar atmosphere. The beer garden adds an outdoor dimension that gives it a more open, casual feel than a typical indoor pub, and live sports screenings — Premier League matches, major tennis tournaments, and more — make it a natural gathering point on game days. The food menu is a genuine highlight. Visitors consistently praise the Guinness beef pie, Cornish pasty, and traditional American-style breakfasts, all made on-site. The bakery operation and handmade coffee drinks, including a Thai-style iced coffee, round out a menu that goes well beyond standard pub fare. Mid-range pricing keeps it accessible, with some items offering strong value for money. Good to know: with opening hours starting at 9am every day, this works equally well as a breakfast or brunch stop as it does an evening bar. Those planning to catch a specific sports match are better served by checking the pub's website or social channels in advance, as atmosphere and seating availability can vary significantly depending on what is on the screens.

Visitor Reviews
This spot brings me back home even though my home is not Ireland. I feel like I’m back in the United States. For my birthday I was craving a traditional American breakfast, and I actually found it here in the UN Irish pub. I ordered the Irish breakfast with the potato pancakes. It was my first time, it was sumptuous. The bacon was perfect, which is a rarity here in northern Thailand. It was cooked crispy without being burnt. They serve an excellent cup of coffee, as I am very picky about my coffee, this spot does a good job with their brew. My family and I watch the Olympics that were being broadcast on large TVs next to us and loved it. They also serve a nice array of Thai food if you’re in the mood for Thai, but honestly, they do western quite well here, whereas all of Thailand does Thai well so choose the latter!
🥧🥩🍺 We tried the Guinness beef pie and the Cornish pasty at The UN Irish Pub and Restaurant, and both were absolutely delicious. The beef pie came with a rich, flavorful gravy that paired perfectly with the tender meat. The pastry was spot on, not dry at all, nicely baked, and held the filling beautifully. The Cornish pasty, filled with a mix of beef and minced pork, was equally satisfying, with a juicy, well-seasoned filling and a crust that had real character. Everything tasted comforting, hearty, and thoughtfully made. A great spot for classic pub food done right, and it’s easy to see why so many foreigners love this place. Definitely worth coming back for more! 🍺
Amazing Menu, on site baked goods, killer breakfast menu, and the most important thing, handmade coffee drinks! We ordered the “Thai style iced coffee”. Came in a large glass (20 oz) for 70 TB ($2.16 USD). Also ordered a cinnamon roll that was meh. But the coffee alone is worth coming here. I’m addicted! This breakfast menu is the most complete I have seen in this country so far (photos below). AND they have their own Beer Garden! Do yourself a solid, and impress whoever is with you, and come here. You are welcome!

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
