Pattaya Avenue
An open-air centre where expats stock up on European cheese, then eat street-cart seafood for pocket change.

- Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
- Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Come here for the practical stuff. Villa Market is the anchor, and it's the reason long-stayers keep coming back: Western groceries, imported goods, and a cheese counter that people genuinely rate. Around it sits Tops Wine Cellar with an outdoor terrace, Starbucks, McDonald's, a food court, a cinema, a gym, plus smaller tenants like a luggage shop, hairdressers and an estate agency. The Robin Hood Tavern pulls in the expat sports crowd.
The food is the part worth planning around. Street carts sit on the perimeter and reviewers reckon two people can eat seafood and chicken for around nine US dollars, which puts the chain restaurants in perspective. Afternoons are quiet and easy to wander. Evenings pick up around the food court and the terraces. It's open-air and simple to navigate, so you're not fighting a mall layout to get from groceries to dinner.
This isn't a shopping destination in its own right. It's somewhere you go for a specific errand and stay longer than planned.

Reviews from Google
I visit Pattaya Avenue to take strong black Americano coffee in Starbucks, to enjoy wine on the terrace of Tops Wine Cellar, to shop in Market Villa supermarket, the #1 place for European cheese, or to buy long length, below the knee Molecule brand board shorts from a unisex clothing outfitters. There is also a cinema, a large estate agency, luggage shop, hairdressers and various small hawker stands. Expats have a large and hugely popular Robinhood Tavern to drink in and watch sports. There is a McDonald's for the nutritionally challenged and a fabulous oyster bar for those with more refined palates. Need cash, no problem, there are a number of ATM machines available. Need a toilet, there are several public toilets. This place is busy all day, but it comes alive after dark.
Great restaurants and a nice food court. There's a theater here but I haven't been yet. I found a good realtor here and there is a good mix of business here. Free parking Is nice. Short cut thru to 3rd road.
Pattaya Avenue is a wonderful spot to visit with a lively atmosphere. A highlight is the nearby food court offering a variety of dishes at very affordable prices. The combination of this vibrant area and cheap food options makes it a perfect place to enjoy. Highly recommend checking out both!

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
Claim Your VAT Refund
Spend 2,000+ THB at a single store displaying 'VAT Refund for Tourists' signs, get a yellow form at the register, and claim 7% VAT back at the airport. It adds up fast on bigger purchases.
