Army-run accommodation isn't most people's idea of a beach vacation, and that's rather the point here. This is a Royal Thai Army resort out in Nong Kae, away from the hotel strip in central Hua Hin, and it draws a mix of Thai families and people connected to the services rather than an international crowd. If you want a pool bar, a concierge and someone to arrange your tours, book elsewhere. If you'd rather stay somewhere functional and quiet on the southern edge of town, it makes sense.

Expect the tone of an institution rather than a resort brand, with orderly grounds, plain rooms, not much English spoken. Nong Kae puts you closer to the southern beaches and the hills than to Hua Hin's night market, so a scooter or a taxi is worth budgeting for if you plan on eating out in the center most evenings.
