Which one to book depends less on price than on where you're sleeping, because they finish in different places: Krabi Bus Terminal, Krabi Town, Ao Nang hotels or Railay. Going to Ao Nang, Krabi Town or Railay
For Ao Nang, book a ticket that names Ao Nang rather than Krabi. Lomprayah drops at Ao Nang and Krabi Town hotels for ฿1,250, arriving at 13:30 or 16:30 depending on the boat, and Phantip, Raja and Seatran all sell Ao Nang drop-offs for about ฿560–970. The cheaper bus-terminal tickets leave you at Krabi Bus Terminal, a songthaew or taxi ride from Ao Nang.
For Krabi Town, the bus-terminal tickets are fine, and Lomprayah's ฿1,100 ticket ends at its own Krabi office, in town.
For Railay, which has no road, Lomprayah sells the whole journey for ฿1,500, reaching Railay at 14:00 or 18:00, and the Lomlahkkhirin speedboat from Pralarn reaches it at 14:30 for ฿1,600. Otherwise get to Ao Nang and take a longtail across.
Catching a flight from Krabi the same day is tight. The earliest combos reach Krabi around midday and the airport is a further drive, so don't book anything leaving Krabi before the evening.
The Direct Flight Leaves Samui at Midday
Bangkok Airways flies the only nonstop, about 50 minutes, leaving Samui at 12:30 in October and 12:25 from November, with a second flight in the late afternoon by mid-December. Fares on 12Go ran about ฿3,900–4,800 one way, several times the ferry, and the one daily plane fills up in high season. Connections through Bangkok take four hours or more and aren't worth it.
Which Samui Pier to Leave From
Nathon on the west coast is where most combos leave, Lomprayah, Seatran, Phantip's boats and Songserm's 13:10 among them. Raja's car ferry leaves from Lipa Noi, a little south, with the earliest departure of the day at 05:00. The Lomlahkkhirin speedboat leaves Pralarn pier in Maenam on the north coast at 08:30.
From Chaweng or Lamai any of them is a ride across the island, so a hotel pickup is worth paying for. Lomprayah's runs ฿150 more than the pier fare and collects at 07:00 or 10:15.
