Phuket Thai Cooking Academy
Phuket Thai Cooking Academy offers a structured, full-morning cooking experience that goes beyond the kitchen. Classes begin with a guided visit to a local market, where instructors walk participants through the fresh ingredients, local produce, and essential pantry staples that form the foundation of authentic Thai cooking. It is a practical introduction to Thai culinary culture before the hands-on cooking begins. Back at the dedicated teaching space in Kathu, participants choose four dishes across different categories — typically a soup or salad, an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert — and prepare each one themselves under instructor guidance. The teaching style emphasises real technique and flavour balance rather than passive demonstration, giving visitors skills they can genuinely apply at home. Instructors are noted for clear explanations and an ability to accommodate different skill levels, making the class accessible to first-time cooks and more experienced home chefs alike. Good to know: The academy operates six days a week, Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Sundays. Booking in advance is strongly recommended, as class sizes appear limited and popular sessions fill quickly. Visitors should check current schedules and availability directly through the academy's website at phuketthaicookingacademy.com before arriving in Phuket. Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for a kitchen setting are advisable.

Visitor Reviews
Here’s a polished, 5-star–style Google review you can copy and paste (feel free to tweak tone or details): ⸻ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing experience at Phuket Thai Cooking Academy! From start to finish, everything was well organized, welcoming, and genuinely fun. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about Thai cuisine, making the class engaging whether you’re a beginner or someone who already enjoys cooking. We learned about ingredients, techniques, and cultural context—not just recipes—and the hands-on approach made it easy to follow along. Every dish we made was absolutely delicious, and I loved that we could actually recreate everything afterward at home. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, the facilities were clean, and the entire experience felt authentic and memorable. If you’re visiting Phuket and want a meaningful, interactive activity (and great food!), this is a must-do. Highly recommend!
We had such an amazing experience at this cooking class from start to finish! The market visit was such a fun and authentic part of the day. Ploy, our teacher explained all the ingredients so clearly and shared so much knowledge. When we arrived at the academy, the set-up was absolutely lovely and very welcoming. Ploy and June were both fantastic throughout the class. They guided us step by step, helped whenever we needed it and created such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The food at the end was exceptional. All the ingredients were incredibly fresh and every dish we made was full of flavour and absolutely delicious. We also really appreciated how accommodating they were. We had one vegan, two vegetarians, and one meat eater in our group and they catered to everyone perfectly without compromising on taste or experience. We would highly recommend this class to anyone, such a memorable and enjoyable day!
Very interesting and authentic cooking class. Starts in a market near the school and you get to see local products from local vendors. Then it's off to class! The instructor was amazing and able to keep track of the progress of each of the three dishes everyone had chosen during prep, cooking, and finish. As a group we made coconut cream, coconut milk (that we used), tempura bananas, and mango sticky rice. At the end we had plenty to eat, plenty to share, and enough to take away. I would go to this school again in a heartbeat. They have other offerings for more in depth study; next visit definitely!

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
