This is the lookout above the PATTAYA CITY sign, on the north end of Pratumnak Hill, the headland between central Pattaya and Jomtien. From the railing you look down over Bali Hai pier and the end of Walking Street to the full curve of Pattaya Bay and the skyline behind it, and it's the best single view of the city's shape. The big letters sit just below on the slope, and the heart-shaped photo frame by the café is the other picture everyone takes.

Sunset is when it fills up. City Coffee, the café on the hilltop, has seats facing the bay, and they go well before the light does, so come early or settle for a spot at the railing. The letters are lit after dark, from about 18:30, which is the other good time for photos, and early morning is the quiet one.

It's free. Google and Thailand's tourism directory both list the hilltop as open 07:00 to 22:00, and the café keeps shorter hours, 08:00 to 20:00 on Google. You can drive or ride a motorbike up, though parking gets tight at sunset and a Grab or Bolt back down can take a while to find. On foot, walk from Bali Hai pier at the south end of Walking Street to the lighthouse on the cape, then take the stairs up past the letters, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Pratumnak has three viewpoints that people mix up. This one is at the sign. Khao Phra Tamnak Viewpoint is about 500 m northwest and lower down, by the lighthouse on Cape Bali Hai where the hill meets the sea. The temple viewpoint at Wat Khao Phra Bat, with the Prince of Chumphon monument, is about 500 m south, and the 18-meter golden Buddha of Wat Phra Yai is a little over 1 km south along the ridge.
