Phra Tamnak Mountain Viewpoint

4.6(10,160 reviews)

Perched atop Phra Tamnak Mountain in central Pattaya, this hilltop attraction combines cultural significance with some of the most expansive coastal views in the region. At its heart stands an 18-metre golden Buddha statue, approached via an ornate staircase that sets a contemplative tone before visitors even reach the summit. The viewpoint looks out over Pattaya Bay and the city skyline, making it a popular spot for photographers, particularly around sunset when the light transforms the coastline.

The atmosphere balances spiritual reverence with relaxed sightseeing. The grounds offer multiple vantage points and photo opportunities, and an on-site café allows visitors to linger over the scenery with a drink in hand. The location is accessible by both car and motorbike, making it straightforward to reach from most parts of Pattaya without significant effort.

The viewpoint is open every day from 07:00 to 22:00, giving visitors flexibility to arrive at different times of day. Sunset is widely considered the most rewarding time to visit, and the café tends to fill up during this period, so arriving a little early to secure a seat is worth considering. As this is a site with religious significance, respectful dress is advisable when visiting the Buddha statue and surrounding temple areas.

Reviews from Google

The best location to view the Pattaya skyline; Instagram worthy; reachable via car or bike. There’s also a caffe to have some refresher while admiring the view.

Phra Tamnak Mountain Viewpoint – A Beautiful Shortcut to Pattaya’s Best View 🌅 Phra Tamnak Mountain Viewpoint is one of those places in Pattaya that instantly makes you fall in love with the city all over again. Interestingly, I didn’t even go all the way up to the main viewpoint this time. I stopped near the famous “PATTAYA CITY” sign located slightly below the top – and honestly, the view from there was already more than enough to impress me. From this spot, you can clearly see almost the entire Pattaya city skyline. The curve of Pattaya Bay is perfectly visible, with rows of hotels, condominiums, and beach lines stretching beautifully along the coast. On a clear day, the sea looks calm and endless, blending with the sky in the most peaceful way. It feels like you are standing at the edge of the city, watching everything move slowly below you. What I love about this area is how easy it is to enjoy the scenery without having to hike far or deal with heavy crowds. The PATTAYA CITY sign also makes it a perfect photo location, especially for travellers who want an iconic shot without the stress of going to the main observation deck. Even though I didn’t reach the top viewpoint, I left completely satisfied. The view was breathtaking, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the whole experience felt simple yet unforgettable. If you’re visiting Pattaya and want a great panoramic city view with minimal effort, stopping by the Phra Tamnak Mountain area is definitely a must.

This viewpoint is very centrally located and offers a beautiful view. There are many locations for beautiful photo shoots, especially at sunset. It's fantastic. You should reserve seats at the café there well before sunset, as it is very popular and does not have enough seats.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Popular Activities Online

Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
