Than Bok Khorani National Park
Set in Ao Luek district, this national park sits among the dramatic limestone karst landscape that defines southern Thailand's interior. Unlike Krabi's coastal attractions, it offers a quieter, forested environment centred around cave systems, shaded walking trails, and a clear river that visitors can swim in. The park also serves as a gateway for boat trips to nearby islands, making it a versatile stop for those looking to explore beyond the beaches. The experience is relatively compact — the main trail runs approximately 1,500 metres through shaded, well-maintained paths alongside the river — so it suits a half-day visit rather than a full day. Cave exploration and riverside walks are the primary draws, with a small on-site restaurant available. Visitors should note that foreign nationals (non-Thai) pay a 300 baht entry fee, which some reviewers have found steep given the park's modest size. The single-day ticket does not allow re-entry, so planning which areas to prioritise before arriving is worthwhile. The dry season, running roughly from November to April, offers the most stable conditions, with manageable water levels and cooler mornings. Arriving early is strongly recommended, as the park becomes noticeably busier after 10am. Wear sturdy footwear for the cave sections, bring sun protection for open stretches, and check locally for current opening hours and any seasonal closures before making the trip.

Visitor Reviews
Dont miss it. Ok 300 baths for farang but you can swim in beautiful area..almost alone. Nice trail ... Amazing Nature. Clean toilet. Restaurant ok but some menu dont have price...😅
Visited Hong island and som more smaller ones on a day trip by speedboat. Very beautiful area with lots of nature. Make sure to get up early in the morning as it can get busy over the day ( after 10am ).
More like a tropical garden than a national park as the size of it is rather small. Of course I was annoyed to pay 300 Baht for a trail of 1500 m that is to say 5 Bath per meter for a “faranj”… Having said that, I enjoyed the scenery, the colour of the waters, the plants and the animals found on the way.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
