Sirinat National Park Protection Unit (Hat Layan)
Hat Layan is a coastal stretch within Sirinat National Park on Phuket's northwest shore, managed by this protection unit to preserve the area's natural ecosystems. Unlike the island's busier commercial beaches, it attracts visitors looking for a quieter environment — calm, clear water, and a largely undeveloped shoreline make it a popular choice for families and those seeking a more relaxed beach experience. A river delta on the northern end adds some natural interest, and lifeguard services are present at scattered points along the shore. The atmosphere is genuinely low-key. Most days the beach sees only light crowds, though it draws a small gathering at sunset on clear evenings. A few restaurants operate nearby, but this is not a beach with beach clubs, vendors, or a party atmosphere. Some visitors have noted the presence of old boats and litter in parts of the area, so expectations around facilities and upkeep should be measured accordingly. Good to know: As a national park beach, an entrance fee applies. Facilities are limited compared to resort beaches, so arriving with water, sun protection, and snacks is advisable. The protection unit status means commercial development is restricted, which preserves the natural setting but also means fewer conveniences on site. The beach is located in Thalang District in northern Phuket, a short drive from the main tourist areas. Access and conditions can vary seasonally, so checking ahead before visiting is worthwhile.

Visitor Reviews
Beautiful beach, clean and not very polluted despite being almost unattended. There is a life guard services in a few spots scattered along the shore. There is a river Delta on the northern side and an island, suggest to walk all the way.
Beautiful, calm, and peaceful, one of the best beaches in Phuket. There are a few restaurants, but it's not a party beach. It's much more suitable for families or for people looking to relax and chill.
Peaceful beach that’s perfect for sunbathing. Almost empty most days we were there except at sunset when it seemed to attract a small crowd on clear days.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
