Rajamangala Aquarium Trang
Situated within the grounds of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya in Sikao District, this aquarium offers a genuinely local alternative to the large commercial attractions found in Thailand's major cities. Run by the university, it has a quieter, more authentic atmosphere and includes a seal show that visitors consistently highlight as a standout experience. A marine conservation element adds depth to the visit, with staff actively involved in rehabilitating and caring for sea life — something that sets it apart from purely recreational facilities. Families with children tend to find it particularly enjoyable, and the site is noted for being wheelchair-friendly. Exhibits focus on species from the surrounding Andaman coastal waters, giving visitors a grounded understanding of the region's aquatic biodiversity. Because this is a university-managed facility operating on a modest budget, visitors should arrive with realistic expectations — the displays are informative and well-maintained rather than grand or theatrical, and that understated quality is part of its appeal. As the aquarium sits inside an active university campus, first-time visitors should not be put off by driving through the campus gates to reach it. Opening hours and admission prices are not reliably published online, so it is worth calling ahead or checking locally before making the trip. The location in Sikao makes it a practical addition to a broader Trang or southern Krabi coast itinerary, particularly for travellers with families or a genuine interest in marine conservation.

Visitor Reviews
We had a wonderful time at the Rajamangala Aquarium. It’s located right inside the university campus and feels much more authentic and peaceful than the big city aquariums. The seal show was the absolute highlight—the trainers clearly care for the animals, and it was very entertaining for the kids. Excellent value for money and located right next to a beautiful, quiet beach. Highly recommended for a relaxed morning!
The hospital is very interesting, they really need more volunteers to help to feed and heal the marine life. Dr Pornthep is fighting hard to keep this place in a good way.
Visited on a public holiday and the place is not quite busy. This is a good local aquarium. They don't have big budget so you cannot expect grand exhibition like national ones. But the whole experience is quite pleasant. It is air-conditioned, a good escape from summer heat. Heard that they just renovated (as of May 2024) Ticket is 60 baht for adult and 30 for kids. Reasonable. You might want to visit Rajamonkol beach some few hundred meters from the building. Great view, clean beach, cool mountains on the background.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
