Why go, and how to do it well
Treat this as a stop on the way to the Emerald Pool rather than the swim itself. The Crystal Pool sits on the 1.4 km nature trail in the Khao Pra-Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary at Khlong Thom, a few hundred meters from the Emerald Pool, and it's named for how clear its water is, a small, still pool ringed by dense forest.
Swimming in the sanctuary is allowed only at the signed spots, and the Emerald Pool is the one people swim in. At least one current guide lists the Crystal Pool as look-only, so bring your swimwear for the Emerald Pool and your camera for this one. The loop is a raised boardwalk and an easy walk, quieter than the direct path from the parking lot.
The sanctuary ticket covers it, ฿400 for foreign adults and ฿200 for children, and the gates are open daily from 08:30 to 16:30. It's about an hour by car from Krabi Town and about 90 minutes from Ao Nang, with no public transport, so come on a tour or with your own wheels. Walk the loop early, before the tour vans reach the Emerald Pool.
