The Dive Academy Koh Samui
Based in Bo Put on Koh Samui's northern shore, The Dive Academy operates as a full-service PADI certification school and dive tour operator, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to experienced divers looking to explore the region's underwater sites. The centre has built a strong reputation for running structured, safety-focused courses, with instructors noted by visitors for their thoroughness and ability to put first-timers at genuine ease before entering the water. The team is internationally staffed and multilingual, covering a broad range of western languages — a practical advantage for travellers from across Europe and beyond. Courses accommodate children as well as adults, with families regularly completing junior PADI certifications together. Equipment is well-maintained, the boat crew is described by visitors as friendly and professional, and the overall setup is organised without feeling rushed or impersonal. Those pursuing open water certification can expect a structured progression through theory, pool work, and open-water dives. Good to know: Book ahead during the peak tourist season between November and February, when both diving conditions and demand are at their highest. Anyone enrolling in a PADI course should bring a valid passport, and it is worth scheduling the course early in a stay to allow enough days for all required certification dives. The Bo Put location is accessible from most parts of Koh Samui. Those sensitive to engine noise on the boat may want to bring earplugs for the ride out to dive sites.

Visitor Reviews
My son and I had our first ever dive today with The Dive Academy. From the very beginning we felt safe and in good hands. Our instructor Bjørn made sure that we understood everything thoroughly before we got in the water and took his time to make us comfortable — both before we went under the surface and during the actual diving part. It was such an amazing experience for both my son and me. I would definitely recommend The Dive Academy to anyone who wants to experience the joy of diving while on Koh Samui. They are great for both adults and kids — I mean, my son would have us come back every year if it were up to him, because he had such a wonderful time thanks to the incredible team! 😊 Edited on October 14: The attached photos were taken by Leia while we were underwater. These are just a small selection of the many amazing pictures and videos she captured. She did an incredible job, and it’s so cool to have our trip immortalized this way!
I had an exceptional experience at this scuba diving center. The entire setup feels safe, well-organized, and genuinely focused on giving people a great time underwater — not just pushing them through a checklist. What truly sets this place apart is the instructor. He has an incredible way with people — a natural, steady hand. Even if you hit a moment of panic or struggle with a skill, he handles it with total calm and confidence. No pressure, no judgment, just clear guidance that helps you regain control and keep going. You feel supported at every step, which makes a huge difference, especially for beginners. Equipment is in great condition, safety is obviously a priority, and the overall atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. If you’re looking for a diving spot where you’ll feel looked after and can actually enjoy the experience rather than stress your way through it, this is absolutely the place to book.
I had the absolute pleasure of getting my PADI open water certificate with the Dive Academy and I cannot recommend them enough. A fantastic team with great vibes and a really great set up. I was lucky enough to have Michael as my instructor and he was the best. Very professional and was incredibly patient with me as I did things in my own pace, he always made sure I was comfortable and he really made my experience special! The Dive Academy has great dive sites, Koh Samui is absolutely beautiful so please make sure if you come to visit you book in with TDA to do a discover scuba or snorkel or even get your PADI open water! I’ll definitely be coming back again for another dive 🤙

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
