Why go, and how to do it well
Ajahn Neng is a lay sak yant master, an ajarn rather than a monk, who has tattooed from his shrine off Soi On Nut 30 in east Bangkok for more than two decades. Designs are hand-tapped with the long steel rod, the khem sak, and each session ends with chanting and a blessing. Because he isn't a monk he tattoos women directly, and a translator is on hand before, during and after.
Sessions are by appointment over WhatsApp or LINE, daily from 10:00 to 18:00. The studio's own price list starts at ฿5,400 for a small or medium design and ฿9,500 for a large one, and big pieces are quoted from photos first. It says it opens new equipment for every client, and under-20s need a parent's consent. From BTS On Nut it's about 200 meters into the soi, an easy motorbike-taxi hop.
