Sabai Thai Massage Chiangrai

4.7(58 reviews)

Tucked away on the third floor of a hotel in Rop Wiang, Sabai Thai Massage Chiangrai has built a strong local reputation as a go-to spot for traditional Thai massage in the city. The space is consistently praised for its quiet, unhurried atmosphere, soft background music, and clean surroundings — the kind of environment that encourages genuine relaxation rather than a rushed, tourist-facing experience. Visitors can expect professional, technique-focused massage from a small, attentive team. Therapists such as Nina and owner Mimi are frequently mentioned by name in reviews, reflecting a level of personal care and intuition that sets this place apart from larger, more anonymous spas. Two-hour Thai massages appear to be a popular choice among repeat visitors, with several guests returning across multiple trips to Chiang Rai specifically to come back here. A practical note for first-time visitors: the entrance requires climbing a flight of stairs, so it is worth keeping that in mind if mobility is a concern. As no website or listed contact details are currently available, it is advisable to visit in person to confirm opening hours and book a session. Given its small size and loyal repeat clientele, arriving early or outside peak tourist hours may help secure a preferred time slot.

Visitor Reviews

What a gem of a massage place! Professional, perfect technique and relaxing Sabai Thai Massage is honestly amazing. The space is quiet, calm, and instantly relaxing, with soft background music that makes you unwind the moment you walk in. I’ve been back several times, with different therapists each visit, and every single one of them has been completely professional and clearly an expert at what they do. Their technique is spot on. They always apply exactly the right pressure in exactly the right place, and when you ask for a little more pressure, they adjust beautifully without ever pressing where they shouldn’t. You can really feel that they know the body, they know timing, and they know how to work the muscles properly. Every massage I’ve had here has been genuinely excellent. The owner, Mimi, is also one of the therapists, and she is incredibly warm and kind. They recently celebrated their one year anniversary at this location, and you can tell how much care and pride goes into the place. One experience that really showed their professionalism happened during my first visit. I started feeling a bit chilly and began coughing like a maniac, which was honestly embarrassing for me. They handled it so gracefully. They brought blankets right away, adjusted the AC, and even brought me warm tea. My one hour massage actually ended up taking longer because of the interruptions, yet they stayed calm, caring, and completely professional the entire time. I felt looked after, not judged. This place is the perfect mix of skill, care, and genuine hospitality. I fully recommend Sabai Thai Massage. It is wonderful, and one of the few places I’m always happy to come back to.

I am back again in Chiang Rai and of course I went to Sabai Thai for a two hour Thai Massage. It felt even better than last year. You have to climb the stairs and get to a relaxing heaven. Lovely enviromnent and personal, and the treatment of former Head of Spa at Four Season Golden Triangel is just …..5+ star. Really something to look forward if you get to Chiang Rai.

Very lovely women working and running this establishment. Sublime professionalism and kindness. I went two days in a row, both massages were superb and Nina in particular was very intuitive and provided a rare experience of feeling cared for. I will be back here on all future visits to Chiang Rai 🙏

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
