Why go, and how to do it well
Krua Luang Ten is a southern Thai restaurant set back off Highway 4 in Khuekkhak, in a long, open-sided shed with fans, slab-wood tables and log benches, and it's listed in the MICHELIN Guide for the Phang Nga region. The kitchen cooks the food of the Andaman coast, such as crab and melinjo-leaf coconut curry, surf clams with chili jam and holy basil, and gaeng som sour curry with sea bass and lotus root. A plate of raw vegetables and herbs with a fermented fish dip comes free.
There's no English menu, but there's a photo menu and the staff will show you the day's ingredients. It opens only for lunch (11:00 to 13:00) and early dinner (17:00 to 20:00) on Google's listing, takes cash only, and, according to Ideal Magazine, closes on the 10th, 20th and 30th of each month. Grab struggles to pin it, so give the driver the elephant camp next door as the landmark.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
Use Grab for Delivery
The Grab app works for food delivery across Thailand, letting you order from street stalls and restaurants alike. It's invaluable on rainy days or when you want to eat in your hotel.
