Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park

Stretching across the coastline and forested hills of Phang-nga Province, Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park takes its name from two of its prominent peaks and protects a rich sweep of tropical ecosystems, from dense rainforest and mangroves to quiet beaches along the Andaman Sea. The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including macaques, hornbills, and various reptile species, making it a rewarding destination for nature lovers and wildlife watchers. Visitors can explore a network of forest trails, relax on uncrowded stretches of beach, and take in scenic viewpoints across the surrounding landscape. The atmosphere is notably peaceful compared to busier tourist areas nearby, and the park's relatively compact size makes it accessible for a half-day or full-day visit. A visitor centre near the entrance provides context on the park's ecology and history. The park is open daily from 08:30 to 16:30, so an early start is recommended to make the most of the cooler morning hours and to improve chances of spotting wildlife along the trails. Lightweight, breathable clothing and sturdy footwear are advisable, particularly if planning to walk the forested paths. The wet season, roughly May to October, brings lush greenery but also muddy trails and rougher seas, while the dry season from November to April generally offers the most comfortable conditions for both hiking and beach visits.
