Bros Music Bar and Hostel
This dual-purpose bar and hostel sits right on Pai's walking street, functioning as one of the town's most popular live music venues. Open seven days a week from 8:30 AM until midnight, it draws a mixed crowd of backpackers, long-term travellers, and locals who come specifically for the nightly live performances. The bar side of the operation is the clear highlight — guests consistently praise the quality of the music and the relaxed, sociable atmosphere, with cold drinks and a solid food menu rounding out the experience. For those staying as hostel guests, the rooms have individual character and hot showers, but the setup comes with an important caveat: because the bar operates until midnight directly below or adjacent to the rooms, noise carries significantly and the walls offer little sound insulation. The air conditioning has also been noted as inconsistent. This is a trade-off that suits some travellers perfectly and frustrates others. Good to know: Bros is best approached as a bar that happens to offer beds, rather than a quiet place to sleep that also has a bar. If you are a light sleeper or prioritising rest, consider staying elsewhere and visiting just for the evening. If you are happy to embrace the social, music-driven atmosphere, it delivers reliably on that front. Check availability and current details via their Facebook page before arriving, particularly during Pai's busy high season between November and February.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
