Motown Bar Kanchanaburi
Motown Bar sits on the lively Maenamkwai Road strip in Kanchanaburi, drawing in travellers looking for a relaxed, unpretentious night out. The bar stands out for its friendly atmosphere, with staff who are welcoming and, according to regulars, genuinely good company. English-speaking hostesses make it easy for international visitors to settle in, and the owner and his friend occasionally take to the small stage for live performances, adding a personal touch that sets it apart from more generic bars in the area. Inside, guests can expect tasteful decorations, music at a comfortable volume, a functioning pool table, and a big screen showing football — making it a solid choice whether you want a quiet drink or a more social evening. Drink prices are firmly in the budget range, with beers priced at standard local rates. It is worth noting that at least one visitor felt the spirits may have been on the light side, so those ordering cocktails or mixed drinks may want to keep that in mind. Motown Bar opens daily at 17:00 and stays open until 02:00, making it a good option for an early evening drink or a late night out. Its location on Maenamkwai Road puts it within easy walking distance of the river and other guesthouses and bars, so it fits naturally into an evening spent exploring the strip.

Visitor Reviews
Great bar with very friendly girls. Hostess speaks good English and are very helpful. Pool table in good condition and they also have big screen showing football. Prices are very fair and the place is nicely ventilated
I spent 2 great nights there. Mo, bebe, Doughnut and the others were great. We had a great night with the drinks flowing. Good prices for drinks as well. Good location. I will certainly visit again. Many thanks.
Very beautiful bar with nice decorations. They play great music, not too high like many bars in Thailand. They also has a little stage for live performances. Prices on beer was normal. Staff friendly.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
