Alio Slow Bar Chiangrai ห้าแยก
Tucked near the bustling ห้าแยก (five-way intersection) in central Chiang Rai, Alio Slow Bar is a specialty coffee café with a devoted following among both locals and travellers. Despite being listed under shopping categories, the experience here is firmly rooted in exceptional coffee — particularly single-origin drip coffee sourced from locally grown beans, prepared by baristas who take their craft seriously. The café also serves creative drinks, with visitors noting beautifully layered iced beverages alongside reliable espresso-based classics like flat whites and caramel macchiatos. The atmosphere leans into its "slow bar" name — unhurried, welcoming, and far removed from the transactional feel of tourist-facing cafés. Staff are consistently praised for their warmth and attentiveness, and the space draws a loyal morning crowd of regulars. Whether visitors are after a precise pour-over or a refreshing iced drink, the quality holds up across the menu. Alio is open every day from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making it a natural starting point for a morning in the city. Those staying nearby will find it particularly convenient, and arriving earlier in the day means a quieter, more relaxed visit before the midday rush. Check the Facebook page before visiting for any updates on seasonal offerings or special coffee selections, as the menu can shift depending on available single-origin beans.

Visitor Reviews
The brothers inspire looks so classy and seems simple but the flavor is amazing. I sadly didn’t take a picture before mixing but there’s two clear and beautiful layers of apple juice and medium double espresso garnished with an ice sphere, apple slice and sprig of rosemary. The sweetness of the apple juice is refreshing by itself while the espresso is bold but not overwhelming. When mixed it’s pleasantly sweet with the depth from the espresso and comes together beautifully. Their caramel macchiato is also equally as amazing. The milk is already slightly sweet by itself, the coffee is not too bitter but cuts the added sweetness from the caramel for a really nice balance. Highly recommend these two drinks as well as their specialty coffee. I really like their peaberry anaerobic dry, very nice for a hot americano. Their cups state the heart of their coffee is quality and it truly shows. The owner is also a kind and positive gentleman, passionate about coffee! Ask him about his coffee he is very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations :)
My friend recommended this cafe’ to me so today I gave it a try. This cute little coffee shop is not hard to find. As I entered, the staff welcomed me with big friendly 😃. They were very polite and helpful with any questions I had. I ordered Iced espresso with oat milk. I like that they used a big ice ball for cold drinks. I ordered less sweet and it was PERFECTLY sweet! Their coffee is GOOD! I took a couple pictures and took the drink togo. I will be coming back whenever I can. By far this is my MOST FAVORITE ❤️ coffee place in Chiangrai and thanks to my local friend😉😋
Visited this morning and it turned out to be a great little find. I had a cappuccino and my wife went for an iced caramel macchiato - both excellent. The coffee was dark and strong, but well balanced and very palatable, with really good milk texture. Prices are a little higher than average for Chiang Rai. The space itself is modern and welcoming. We ended up staying a little while playing dominoes with our daughter. Very enjoyable overall and definitely somewhere we’d happily return to if we were in town longer.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
