Sirikorn Fruit and Vegetable Market
This community market in Mueang Chiang Rai District serves primarily local residents, making it one of the more authentic glimpses into everyday Thai life available to visitors in the city. Stalls are stocked with seasonal tropical fruits sourced from across Thailand, fresh vegetables, cut flowers available for custom arrangement, and general household goods. Honest reviews note that this is a functional neighbourhood market rather than a curated tourist experience, though that is precisely its appeal for travellers curious about how locals shop and go about their daily routines. Beyond the produce, a handful of food stalls operate within and around the market. Visitors have specifically highlighted a takeaway stall serving fried potato mixed with taro alongside fried tofu finished with a pad thai-style sauce — a simple, inexpensive, and well-regarded option run by a welcoming couple. This kind of incidental discovery is typical of what the market offers: small, unassuming food finds rather than headline attractions. Good to know: The market opens at 05:00 every day of the week and runs through to 21:00, giving visitors considerable flexibility. Early morning remains the best time to arrive for the freshest produce and widest selection of fruit. Bring small denominations of Thai baht in cash, as card payments are unlikely to be accepted at individual stalls. Comfortable, practical footwear is recommended, as the market can be busy and uneven underfoot during peak hours.

Visitor Reviews
I found this little place while picking up some fruit in the market. It is a takeaway that serves a tasty dish made up of fried potato mixed with taro and a side of tofu. They add this pad thai like sauce and you can have it as spicy as you like. They have a couple of chairs, speak very good english and are incredibly nice. A small dish is 30฿, medium 40฿ and large 50฿. It is walking distance from the night bazaar and the old bus station.
Look for a stall with fried potato with taro and fried tofu. Super tasty and delicious. The best of all is the very friendly couple. Boy and his wife are lovely people with a genuine smile and they run a business as second generation after father of Boy had it for 35 years. You should definitely check this stall when in Chiang Rai. Greetings from Leo (Portuket)
The fruit here is delicious!

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
