PJ Hostel & Bar

PJ Hostel & Bar is a great little spot right in the heart of Pattaya. Super convenient location near the beach and nightlife, clean and comfortable rooms, and a really friendly, relaxed vibe. The bar downstairs makes it easy to meet people, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Excellent value for money — would definitely stay again!

The room wasn't clean even after I asked for a cleaning on the second day. Also not a great smell in the entrance/bar, due the smoking. The rest was OK, e the loation is very good. But the cleanliness should be the priority so I cannot give more than 3 stars.

I reported this hostel to the police today. I booked a room through an online app, but when I arrived to check in, they told me the room was already full. There was an issue with the online booking system: while I had already purchased the room online, another customer walked in and took the room because the hostel forgot to close the online booking system. At first, I was understanding, as I know mistakes can happen. However, the hotel manager was not present, and the receptionist tried to help by offering a replacement room. Unfortunately, they only offered a lower-quality room at a neighboring hostel. I rejected this offer and requested a full refund. The manager then said they would refund a maximum of 550 baht from the 997 baht I had paid. This was unfair, so I complained. I asked for an alternative room at a different hotel for the same price, but the manager refused. She claimed that they only received about 20% less than the amount I paid due to booking and marketing fees. However, this is not my responsibility—I paid the full amount and therefore demanded a full refund. After waiting and negotiating for four hours, the manager continued to insist on finding another hostel but still refused to provide a full refund. In the end, I went to the police and filed a report, as this situation felt like a scam. The hostel received the full payment but refused to fully refund me, even though the mistake was entirely theirs. Additionally, wasting four hours waiting instead of receiving an immediate refund was extremely disappointing. Thankfully, the owner of the neighboring weed café helped to resolve the situation, but I still cannot recover the time that was already wasted. This is not about the money, but about the lack of responsibility and the inability to properly resolve the problem, which was beyond disappointing.
