IDA B DOMAIN

4.8(136 reviews)

Perched on Koh Samui's quieter west coast in Lipa Noi, IDA B Domain is a small-scale luxury resort that consistently earns praise for its extraordinary views across the Gulf of Thailand to the surrounding islands — a perspective that guests describe as unmatched on the island. The property is designed with the feel of a beautifully appointed private residence rather than a conventional hotel, blending lush jungle surroundings with ocean panoramas and a striking pool that takes full advantage of the elevated outlook. With only a handful of rooms, the resort offers an atmosphere of genuine seclusion and calm. Facilities include massage rooms, a restaurant serving well-regarded food, and event and wedding venue capabilities, making it suitable for both leisure travellers and those planning special occasions. Staff are consistently noted for attentive, personalised service that goes well beyond standard hospitality. Sunsets from the property are a particular highlight given the west-facing coastal position. Practically speaking, Lipa Noi sits away from Koh Samui's busiest tourist corridors, so arranging a rental vehicle or transfers is advisable for exploring other parts of the island. The west coast is best experienced between November and February during Thailand's dry season, when clear skies make the most of those signature views. Given the limited number of rooms, booking well in advance is strongly recommended, particularly during peak season. Visit the official website at idab-domain.com for current availability and rates.

Visitor Reviews

A truly exceptional place! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away — stunning views and an incredible pool. Phee, the manager, kindly gave us a tour of the hotel, which includes massage rooms, a private cinema, and plenty of other great activities to enjoy. Then came the highlight: discovering our room. It was absolutely beautiful, spacious, and offered a breathtaking view of the pool and the sea. The owner welcomed us with genuine warmth, and the entire staff was incredibly attentive, making sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. To top it all off, we were offered a late check-out so we could enjoy the pool a bit longer in the afternoon. I’ve stayed in many hotels, but this one truly stands out — an unforgettable experience!

The views from this hotel were the best I’ve ever experienced, photos don’t do it justice! The room was the best I’ve ever stayed in too. The staff were very helpful, and the food was lovely although much more expensive than if you were to eat out elsewhere just to note. The only downside is that the hotel is hard to get in and out of. The hill is too steep and long to drive or walk with ease so you have to get the hotel shuttle (it is free!) to the bottom of the hill. It just means waiting around if the car isn’t ready, and it’s just on between 8am-10pm. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, couldn’t fault the hotel facilities at all, thank you!

Our stay at Ida B Domaine was simply unforgettable. A true haven of peace with an exceptional view, probably unmatched in all of Koh Samui. The staff went above and beyond, even running errands for us so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The food, prepared by an on-site chef you can personally meet, was varied and delicious. The spacious rooms are immense, and the whole atmosphere makes you feel right at home. A genuine hidden gem and sanctuary — we warmly recommend it! A very special mention to Phi, who made our stay magical and will be deeply missed by our 18-month-old son.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
