Why go, and how to do it well
This is the sort of beach you go to when you've had enough of Patong. A small cove down Soi Laemmumnok in Karon, sheltered enough that the water usually stays calm and swimmable, with none of the jet ski touts and vendor pressure you get on the big stretches. If you want a day of doing very little, it works.
Go early. The gate opens at nine and the morning hours are the good ones, before the sun gets serious and before the day-trippers filter in. Facilities are thin, so bring your own water, sunscreen and a hat. Shade isn't guaranteed. And don't turn up at dusk expecting to linger, because it shuts at seven.
Who's it for? People staying in Karon or Kata who fancy a change of scene without a long drive, and anyone who'd rather swim in quiet water than be surrounded by loungers. If you need beach bars, watersports and a choice of restaurants, you'll be happier elsewhere on the island.
