Kahung Beach (Koh Hey)

Sitting off the coast of Rawai in southern Phuket, Kahung Beach on Koh Hey is a compact island destination that draws visitors with its clear turquoise waters, active beach facilities, and a more contained atmosphere than Phuket's larger beaches. The beach supports a solid range of water sports including parasailing and banana boat rides, alongside a well-regarded snorkelling spot that makes it appealing to both active visitors and those simply looking to swim and unwind. A beachside bar serves cocktails, mocktails, and food that visitors consistently highlight as a genuine draw in its own right. The island tends to attract a high proportion of day-tripping tourists, and the experience shifts noticeably once larger boat groups arrive, particularly later in the morning. Those who arrive early tend to find the beach quieter and more enjoyable before the crowds build. Sun loungers are available for hire at a reasonable fee, and the setup lends itself to a relaxed half-day visit rather than an extended stay. Good to know: Sea urchins are present near the shoreline and in shallower snorkelling areas, so wearing water shoes is strongly advised when entering the water. The beach operates daily from 9am to 6pm and is accessed by boat from Rawai Pier on the Phuket mainland. Arriving earlier in the day is recommended for a calmer experience and easier boat access.
