Why go, and how to do it well
Relax Bay is a small, enclosed bay of soft golden sand just south of Long Beach on Koh Lanta's west coast. A few resorts, a couple of beach bars and some massage huts sit behind it, and the sea gypsy longtails pull up on the sand. It faces west, so the sunsets here are some of the best on the island.
Check the tide before you swim. At low tide rocks show along the waterline, and the water is only good for swimming as it comes back in. It's quiet by day, but one or two of the bars play music late into the night, so if you're staying here, ask for a room away from them.
