Why go, and how to do it well
Klong Nin is the long beach in the middle of Koh Lanta's west coast, at the point where the main road turns inland across the island toward Lanta Old Town. It runs for about 2.5 km, with resorts, bungalows and beach bars along the sand, and it's the mid-island base I'd pick if Long Beach feels too busy and the far south too quiet.
Most of the beach has a sandy bottom, so the swimming is good in season, though a few stretches turn rocky at low tide. Evenings are the draw. The bars put out cushions for sunset, run happy hours before it, and some put on fire shows after dark. It's busiest in the high season and much quieter outside it.
