Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

4.6(1,099 reviews)

Set in the hills of Mueang Krabi District, this national park protects a stretch of dense tropical jungle anchored by limestone peaks, offering a genuine wilderness escape from the region's busy coastline. Waterfalls are the main draw, with trails catering to a range of fitness levels — from easy, well-maintained walking paths that lead to a swimmable waterfall basin, to a demanding circular hike involving a steep climb and deep jungle immersion. A small temple within the park adds a cultural dimension to the visit, and camping is available for those wanting to stay longer.

The atmosphere throughout is noticeably cooler and quieter than Krabi's coastal attractions, with thick forest canopy providing shade and fresh mountain air replacing sea humidity. The park is large and well-maintained, and visitor numbers remain low compared to busier nearby sites, making it a practical half-day or full-day excursion from Krabi town.

It feels very authentic and far away from the busy tourist areas. The walking trails are well worth exploring and lead you deep into nature, where you can really enjoy the sounds of the forest and the scenery. It’s a perfect destination for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone looking for a calm and refreshing experience in Krabi. We truly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend this national park if you want to experience Thailand’s natural side.

A must see - beautiful park. Easy walking paths, temple, can hire a car to wander I heard, can camp - not sure if overnight allowed. Easy walking paths, lush green and peaceful. Ticket price - 100 THB for foreign nationals.

A great little national park. There are waterfalls and you're right in the middle of the jungle. There are hiking trails for beginners as well as more challenging trails to explore. Definitely worth a visit.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Popular Activities Online

Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
