Why go, and how to do it well
Think of this less as a single sight and more as the reason Koh Chang still has forest on it. The park covers the island's mountainous interior plus the smaller islands scattered around it, which means two very different days out, trekking under old-growth canopy to waterfalls, or getting on a boat and snorkeling the reefs offshore. Hornbills and monitor lizards are the wildlife people tend to remember.
If you've only got time for one, I'd base the choice on the season. November to April brings calmer seas and clearer water, so that's when the outer-island snorkeling earns the trip. Outside that window, stick to the trails and the falls. The beaches inside the park boundaries are noticeably quieter than the strip on the west coast, which is the whole point of going.
Wear long pants and closed shoes for the jungle. The ground is uneven and the insects are persistent, and flip-flops will ruin your afternoon.
