Na Mueang viewpoint

4.5(40 reviews)

Tucked into the jungle interior of Koh Samui, Na Mueang Viewpoint rewards those willing to make the climb with panoramic views and a natural pool where visitors can swim surrounded by untouched scenery. Unlike many of the island's more accessible attractions, this spot remains relatively uncrowded, offering a quieter and more immersive experience for those who seek it out. The journey to the viewpoint involves a genuine hike through dense jungle terrain, passing waterfalls along the way. Visitors should note that the viewpoint itself is not signposted, so some navigation is required — reviewers advise continuing past the first and second waterfalls and pushing through the rocky section beyond to reach the top. The effort is considerable, and the path includes steep and uneven ground that demands care and attention throughout. Good to know: this hike is not suitable for everyone. The trail can be slippery, physically demanding, and carries real risk for those unprepared or unfamiliar with jungle terrain. Sturdy, closed-toe footwear with good grip is strongly recommended, and visitors should avoid attempting the climb alone. Going during dry season improves conditions underfoot and reduces the likelihood of hazardous surfaces. There is no confirmed information available on opening hours or entry fees, so arriving early in the day allows plenty of time to complete the hike safely before daylight fades.

Visitor Reviews

Visiting Na Muang Waterfall 2 in Koh Samui is an adventurous experience that nature lovers shouldn’t miss. Unlike other waterfalls on the island, Na Muang Waterfall 2 offers an exhilarating climb up the rocky path alongside its cascading waters. Wear suitable trainers with good grip, flip flops or beach wear is dangerous. Our taxi driver said some people had tragic accidents wearing poor footwear and you can see why. I am a fitness enthusiast and this climb at points was challenging. This second waterfall is nestled in a lush, jungle setting, giving you a real sense of being surrounded by untouched nature. The climb to the top is moderately challenging, so wearing sturdy footwear is essential, as the rocks can be slippery. Along the way, you’ll find various lookout points with incredible views of the surrounding landscape, making each step worth it. At the top, you're rewarded with a refreshing plunge into the cool, natural pools—perfect for cooling down after the hike. Na Muang Waterfall 2 is a great choice for those looking for a bit of adventure and a change of scenery from the beach. The journey up the waterfall adds to the excitement and offers a memorable experience for anyone willing to put in the effort. Just be prepared for a bit of a climb, and you’ll be treated to some of Koh Samui’s most breathtaking natural beauty. There are a couple of routes, some of which are not sign posted very well - that would be my only criticism. We were unsure if the view point was “the top” so we carried on climbing but ended up turning back as the route was unclear and was becoming a little dangerous. After reviewing some pictures it transpires we probably did reach what is known as the view point so you need not carry on past this point.

A challenging climb but totally worth it beautiful view and a little swimming hole at the top. The view point is not sign posted but if you continue past the first waterfall through the jungle and across a rocky slope it will connect up with the track to the view point.

I love this hike - have done it twice now, wasy to find relatively easy to do - don’t stop at the 2nd and high up waterfall - there’s another section through the rocks that we found and had another waterfall all to ourselves!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
