Na Muang Waterfall 1
Nestled in the forested interior of Koh Samui, Na Muang Waterfall 1 is one of the island's most accessible natural attractions, offering a genuine escape from the coastal crowds. The waterfall feeds into natural pools suitable for swimming, and a flowing stream extends beyond the main cascade, rewarding those who take time to explore further into the surrounding rainforest. The relatively short walk from the car park — around five to ten minutes along a shaded, tree-lined path — makes it manageable for most ages and fitness levels. The atmosphere here is relaxed rather than polished. Facilities are basic, the setting is natural, and while visitor numbers can build during peak hours, the site rarely feels overwhelmingly crowded. Honest visitors note that the waterfall itself can appear modest, particularly outside the rainy season, but as part of a broader day tour around the island it makes for a satisfying stop. Swimming is possible and popular, with enough space for families to spread out and enjoy the cool water. Water flow is at its most impressive between May and October during the wet season, when the cascade is fuller and more dramatic. The dry season offers calmer, cleaner pools but a quieter fall. Waterproof footwear with solid grip is strongly recommended, as the rocks around the pools can be slippery. The site opens daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and a morning visit generally offers cooler temperatures and fewer visitors.

Visitor Reviews
If you like a waterfall that also has a flowing stream from it to explore then visit this one. The waterfall itself is fairly large and buried deep in the rainforest area. From the main pool the water meanders between moss covered rocks, tree vines and dense foliage. It is perfect for a picnic, swim and to relax. There are small shops on the outside and cafes for food/drink as well as toilets. Once you wander the forest area which is 100 metres or so from the car park you feel a million miles away.
Beautiful waterfall with easy access, making it suitable for all ages. The area is not overcrowded, which allows you to enjoy the natural surroundings in a relaxed way. Possible to swim and cool off. There are many small shops around selling drinks, snacks and souvenirs, which is convenient. For those interested, there is also the option to have an elephant ride nearby. From here, it’s possible to reach the second waterfall with a short walk, making it a nice addition to the visit if you want to explore a bit more. Enjoy 😎🙏🧘🧘♀️
Beautiful place! A little bare, to be honest, and the waterfall itself is a tad underwhelming, but as part of a day tour across the island this is a solid spot to visit. Swimming is possible in a small lake under the waterfall. Lots of shade and very tall tress. A small hub before the waterfall proper that has a souvenir shop and some food stalls. Also elephants that have saddles and benches on them, though we haven't checked that out. I believe riding them is possible for booking. Overall a nice spot.

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
