Tara Bistro
Tucked into the hills of Na Mueang, away from Koh Samui's busier coastal strips, Tara Bistro offers a quietly distinctive dining experience set within lush, landscaped grounds. Streams run through the property, koi ponds add to the tranquil atmosphere, and guests are welcome to use the swimming pool and mini golf course — making it a destination in its own right rather than simply a place to eat. The kitchen draws on organic vegetables grown in its own garden, and portions are described by visitors as generous and well-prepared. The menu spans casual lunch fare through to more considered evening meals, with cocktails available to complement the setting. The outdoor garden seating is a highlight, and the overall atmosphere leans relaxed and unhurried — well suited to those looking to escape the resort bubble for a few hours. Tara Bistro is open every day from 10:00 to 20:30, with consistent hours throughout the week making it easy to fit into any itinerary. The Na Mueang location sits inland, so visitors arriving by scooter or taxi should account for the hillside setting when planning their journey. Checking the website at tarabistrosamui.com ahead of time is worthwhile for current menu details and to confirm any updates, particularly for those visiting in the evening when last orders approach the 20:30 closing time.

Visitor Reviews
Tara Bistro is a real little gem on Koh Samui. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming – the kind of place where you immediately feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. The prawns were absolutely delicious: fresh, juicy, and full of flavor without any unnecessary fuss. You can really taste the quality. It’s simple food done exactly right – which, in my opinion, is much harder to find than fancy dishes. The rest of the menu also looked amazing, but honestly… after those prawns, it was hard to think about anything else! The service was friendly and professional, with just the right balance between being attentive and giving you space to enjoy your evening. I had a great time and will definitely be coming back. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy great seafood in a relaxed setting, Tara Bistro should be high on your list. And a little tip: order the prawns. Trust me – your future self will thank you!
Great new dining venue only recently opened. We had a really nice lunch sitting in the garden. Such a lovely property, a few streams flowing through, and lovely gardens to explore. Food was great, service was attentive. They have their own prawn farm - so be sure to try some of their numerous tasty prawn dishes. Open lunch and dinner. Well worth the visit. Update: Went back again - had another delicious lunch in a lovely setting. Can't go wrong here.
Absolutely and amazing and quite place to enjoy your dinner. Most vegetables are organic from their own garden. Huge portion of food, tasty and well prepared. Staff really friendly and the atmosphere is like a family.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
