Mr. Mong Samui View Point
Tucked into the hills of Na Mueang in Koh Samui's interior, Mr. Mong Samui View Point is a family-owned café and viewpoint that combines panoramic scenery with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. From the elevated terrace, visitors can take in broad views of the island's mountainous terrain with the ocean stretching out in the background — a perspective that is easy to miss when sticking to the coast. The experience here is unhurried and intimate. The café serves coffee, snacks, and ice cream, making it a natural rest stop while exploring the island's inland roads. Visitors consistently note the friendliness of the owners and the quiet, peaceful feel that sets it apart from busier tourist spots. The setting suits couples looking for a scenic pause as much as families passing through on a day of exploration. A practical note worth knowing: a 20 THB entry fee applies for those who do not purchase anything from the café, though given the heat and the quality of the views, most visitors find the drinks and ice cream reason enough to stay a while. The viewpoint is open daily from 9am to 8pm, and the late afternoon tends to offer softer light for photography. As it sits in an elevated, open-air location, a visit is best timed around clear weather for the fullest views across the island and surrounding sea.

Visitor Reviews
Found this place just driving to another area. Very glad we turned around and stopped. The staff was very friendly with big smiles. The views are really nice with the ocean in the background. My latte yen was absolutely delicious. It is all open air seating, and not a lot of parking. You can smoke where you want if that’s your desire. There are multiple places for picture taking and there are even a few bird cages.
Really nice stop-off point in the middle of the mountains. Family owned, quiet and peaceful feel to it. Great views, lovely owner. 100% worth a visit. We came middle of the day after a morning of exploring, had a drink and some ice cream and enjoyed the view for half an hour or so before moving onto our next place. Easy to park, was not busy (1st week of January) with only one other family here.
Very quant little shop, with a tremendous view. A very romantic spot to sit and have some ice-cream. They do require that you pay 20BHT if you don't intend to buy anything, but in Thailand's heat one can do with something cool anyways.

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
